Kartamethasone 6<\/h2><\/div>

Composition<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Each\u00a0 tablet contains: Dexamethasone 6 mg.<\/p>\n

Indications:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

1- Endocrine disorders: primary or secondary, adrenocortical insufficiency congenital adrenal hyperplasia, nonsuppurative thyroiditis, hypercalcaemia associated with cancer.<\/p>\n

2- Collagen diseases: During an exacerbation or as maintenance therapy in selected cases of: systemic lupus erythematosus; acute rheumatic carditis.<\/p>\n

3- Rheumatic disorders: as adjunctive therapy for short-term administration in: rheumatioid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, acute and subacute bursitis; acute nonspecific tenosynovitis ;acute gouty arthritis; posttraumatic; osteoarthritis.<\/p>\n

4- Dermatologic diseases: pemphigus, bullous dermatitis herpetiformis; exfoliative dermatitis, mycosis fungoides, erythema multiforme, severe psoriasis ;sever seborrheic dermatitis.<\/p>\n

5- Allergic states :Seasonal or perennial\u00a0 allergic rhinitis, bronichial asthma, contact and atopic dermatitis, drug hypersensitivity reactions.<\/p>\n

6- Ophthalmic diseases: allergic conjunctivitis, keratitis, herpes zoster ophthalmicus, iritis, chorioretinitis, optic neuritis.<\/p>\n

7- Respiratory disease: Symptomatic sarcoidosis, loeffler\u2019s syndrome, berylliosis ;fulminating or disseminated pulmonary tuberculosis when used concurrently with appropriate antituberculous chemotherapy; aspiration pneumonitis .<\/p>\n

8- Hematologic diseases: idiopathic and secondary thrombocytopenic purpura in adults, autoimmune hemolytic anemia, erythroblastopenia, congential hypoplastic anemia.<\/p>\n

9- Neoplastic Diseases :Leukemias and lymphomas in adults ;acute leukemia of childhood.<\/p>\n

10- Edematous states: to induce a diuresis or remission of proteinuria in the nephritic syndrome without uremia.<\/p>\n

11- Gastrointestinal diseases: to tide that patient over a critical period of the disease in: ulcerative colitis, regional enteritis.<\/p>\n

12 \u2013Cerebral Edema: Associated with primary or metastatic brain tumor, craniotomy, or head injury .Use in cerebral\u00a0 edema is not a substitute for careful neurosurgical evaluation and definitive management such as neurosurgery or other specific therapy.<\/p>\n

13-Miscellaneous: Tuberculous meningitis with subarachnoid block or impending block when used concurrently with appropriate antituberculous chemotherapy, trichinosis.<\/p>\n

Dosage and Administration<\/u><\/p>\n

Dosage requirements are variable and must be individualized on the basis of the disease and response of the patient.<\/p>\n

The initial dosage varies from 0.75-9 mg a day depending on the disease being treated .In less severe diseases dose lower than 0.75 mg may suffice, while in severe diseases doses higher than 9 mg may be required .The initial dosage should be maintained or adjusted until the patient\u2019s response is satisfactory .If satisfactory clinical response dose not occur after a reasonable period of time ,discontinue Dexamethasone and transfer the patient to other therapy.<\/p>\n

After a favorable initial response, the proper maintenance dosage should be determined by decreasing the initial dosage in small amounts to the lowest dosage that maintains an adequate clinical response.<\/p>\n

Patients should be observed closely for signs that might require dosage adjustment , including changes in clinical status resulting from remissions or exacerbations of the disease, individual drug responsiveness , and the effect of stress (e.g: surgery, infection ,trauma ) .During stress it may be necessary to increase dosage temporarily.<\/p>\n

If\u00a0 the drug is to be stopped after more than a few days of treatment ,it usually should be withdrawn gradually .<\/p>\n
